How long does it take to develop....

A question that comes up often from new IDOLs is "How long should it take to create _______?"

There will always be a few non-answers: "it depends" or "we need more information".  

However, there is research available to give a general answer.  For example - here is a short article from Robyn Defelice about the 2021 updated to her research on the subject.  The piece is published by ATD:  How Long Does It Take to Develop Training? New Question, New Answers (td.org)

TL;DR People surveyed report that it takes (on average) around 67 hours to create 23 minutes of ILT, and about 84 hours to create 26 minutes of partial-engagement (level 2) eLearning.  The article cautions that this data is not one-size-fits-all and it should be used as a basis for conducting your own research in your organization.
